A big league relief pitcher returns home to Shelby County,
North Carolina following a spectacular career flame out,
accepting a job as a substitute gym teacher in this comedy
series created by Danny McBride, Ben Best, and Jody Hill.
Kenny Powers was poised to rule the major league
when his fading fastball and insufferable
personality began to overshadow his game.
Ejected from the sport after accusations of steroid use led
to a major on-camera meltdown, Powers travels back to
his humble hometown to live with his understanding
yet perturbed brother, Dustin.
In order to prevent his brother from kicking him out,
Kenny Powers takes a job as a substitute gym
teacher at his old high school. Kenny's ego and the
conservative students and faculty provide a volatile mix.
But while Kenny may be down, he's certainly not out, and despite
the fact that his fame has all but dried up, he begins plotting his
inevitable comeback between repeated rounds of heavy drinking.
