Filmed in India, Maya was the story of two teenage boys
who traveled around that country on the back of an
elephant. American Terry Bowen had come to India with his
father, a professional hunter, only to learn that his father was
missing and presumed dead following an attack by a man-
eating tiger. Terry refused to accept his father's death and,
with the help of Raji, an orphan about his own age, set out to
look for the missing man. Raji's faithful elephant Maya was
their source of transportation and of much help during
their search for Mr. Bowen, whom the boys never found.
