The object of Now You See It was to answer general knowledge trivia
questions by finding the answers hidden in a grid, similar to a word
search puzzle. The first round began with four contestant split into
two teams, one "outside" and one "inside" contestant. This round,
called Elimination Game, was played using 56 letters arranged in four
rows of 14, with each row containing a series of overlapping words,
read left to right. The outside contestants turned their backs while
the host asked a toss-up question to the inside contestants. During
its run, the show underwent a significant format change, with two
new players playing the Qualifying Round, played like the Semi-
Final Round prior to the change, with the winner playing against
the returning Champion in the Championship Round. In both
formats, each game ended with a Solo Game that the Champion
played after winning the Main Game, and each game continued
until time ran out at the end of each Now You See It episode.

When Now You See It returned in 1989, it kept the basic game format
introduced late in the original series' run, with a qualifying round
and a championship round. The game was conducted on a three-tiered
stage, with each round of play conducted on one of the three levels
and covered by a large ring covered in chase lighting that was raised
when play moved to that level and lowered when the round ended.
