Super Jeopardy! was a limited-run series that aired every
Saturday night at 8 P.M. ET on the ABC Television Network.
In it, champions from the first 6 seasons of the syndicated
run of Jeopardy! competed against each other for $250,000.
Each game began with a Super Jeopardy! round worth from
200 to 1000 points, followed by a Double Jeopardy! round
worth from 500 to 2500 points. 4 studio contestants per
show played in the quarterfinal episodes followed by the
regular 3 studio contestants in both the semifinal episodes
and the series finale of Super Jeopardy! As with regular
Jeopardy!, each game ended with a Final Jeopardy! round
where all or part of the contestants' point earnings were
wagered on a final question. On March 6, 2019, Alex Trebek,
at age 78, revealed to the world that he'd just been diagnosed
with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. 20 months later, on November
8, 2020, Alex Trebek died at his Los Angeles, California
home at age 80, survived by his wife of 30 years, Jean
Currivan, and their 2 young-adult children, Matt & Emily.

George Alexander "Alex" Trebek was born on July 22, 1940
in Sudbury, Canada, the elder of 2 children (including a
younger sister, Barbara) born to Ukrainian immigrant George
Edward Trebek, a Professional Chef, and French Immigrant
Lucille Lagace, who divorced when Alex and his sister
Barbara were young teenagers. After graduating from high
school at age 16 in 1957, Alex enrolled at the University of
Ottawa where, as an aspiring actor, he began his career
as a Radio Announcer and later a TV newsman who soon
found his calling as a TV Game Show Host with the CBC
Game Show "Reach for the Top." At the suggestion of fellow
Canuck Alan Thicke, Alex decided to try his luck in America
and began his US Game Show Career with the short-lived 1973
Game Show "The Wizard of Odds." He soon followed this
with the bigger hit "High Rollers," which aired on NBC for 2
short runs from 1974-1976 and again from 1978-1980. In
1984, Alex was hired by Merv Griffin to host a revival of his
earlier Game Show creation "Jeopardy!" for the First-Run
Syndication Market--where it became a Major Hit, and Alex
hosted the show for 36 1/2 years, during which time he also
found time to host other Game Shows such as "Classic
Concentration" for NBC, "To Tell the Truth" for NBC, and a
yearly Pillsbury Bake-Off for CBS. More than a TV star, Alex
Trebek was an Institution, and as such the world was stunned
to learn on March 6, 2019 when he revealed his Stage 4
Pancreatic Cancer to the world. For the next 20 months, Alex
never missed a "Jeopardy!" taping, even taping his final
original "Jeopardy!" episodes 10 days before he passed away
at age 80 on November 8, 2020, 20 months after his first
revelation of his Stage 4 Cancer diagnosis, survived by his
wife of 30 years, Jean Currivan, and their 2 young-adult
children, Matt and Emily. Trebek's final original "Jeopardy!"
episodes aired posthumously for the next 2 months until his
final original "Jeopardy!" episode aired on January 8, 2021.
